• The Milwaukee Brewers snapped out of their slump with a decisive victory in the series opener and look to build on that offensive onslaught when they visit the New York Mets on Saturday night. The Brewers had dropped four straight and seven of eight before scoring five times in the third inning en route to a 10-2 victory over the Mets on Friday as four players registered multiple RBIs. Reigning National League MVP Christian Yelich broke out of a mini slump (0-for-9 over four games) with two hits and scored the first run Friday while Eric Thames continued his hot hitting with two RBIs, improving to 6-for-16 with three homers along with seven runs batted in the past seven games for Milwaukee. The Brewers will send Brandon Woodruff to the mound in search of back-to-back wins for the first time in almost two weeks and the Mets counter with fellow right-hander Noah Syndergaard in Saturday’s contest.

• New York has dropped six of its last nine games and was outscored 16-2 the past two contests, falling to 4-5 at home, but leading offensive threat Jeff McNeil (.365 batting average) continued his strong start with a pair of hits. Veteran slugger Robinson Cano is also swinging a hot bat for the Mets, recording 13 hits in 22 at-bats over the past seven games after going 2-for-3 on Friday with an RBI.

• Woodruff allowed four or more runs in three of his past four starts, including last Sunday when he gave up five tallies on seven hits across 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 26-year-old Mississippi State product registered both of his wins against St. Louis, permitting a total of four runs over 10 2/3 innings. Woodruff, who has struck out 32 batters across 26 1/3 innings combined this year, meets the Mets for the first time in his career.

• Syndergaard has followed up his first win of the season by struggling in his last two trips to the mound, allowing 11 runs (nine earned) on 17 hits over 10 innings. The 26-year-old Texan, who boasts 34 strikeouts across 29 innings in 2019, completed at least six frames in his first three starts of the campaign. Travis Shaw is 2-for-5 with a homer against Syndergaard, who was 0-0 with a 2.38 ERA in two starts versus Milwaukee last season.

• The Brewers expect to activate RHP Junior Guerra from the bereavement list and make another corresponding move Saturday.

• New York 1B Pete Alonso, who leads the team with eight homers and 21 RBIs, is 0-for-9 with four strikeouts in his last three games.

• Milwaukee’s pitchers lead the majors in batting average (.267) and hits (12).
