• The Colorado Rockies are the worst road team in baseball since 2010 but are far from it at the outset of 2020. Colorado tries to make it four out of five away from home to start the season when they visit the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday afternoon in the finale of their two-game interleague series. Every player in the Rockies’ lineup had at least one hit in Tuesday’s 8-3 victory with their run total matching the eight runs they scored in the first three games. Colorado had the worst ERA in the National League last season at 5.56 but has permitted only eight runs through four contests – two by its relievers.

• Oakland took three of four from the Los Angeles Angels to open their season-opening six-game homestand before allowing 13 hits Tuesday. The Rockies’ German Marquez on Wednesday looks to build off a strong season debut during which he took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and opposes Frankie Montas, who threw 81 pitches over four innings in his first start.

• Marquez yielded two hits, including Rougned Odor’s run-scoring double, in a 1-0 loss at Texas on Friday in his first career Opening Day start. “A four-pitch mix tonight – he got some outs with all pitches,” Colorado manager Bud Black told reporters about the 25-year-old Venezuelan’s season debut. “A couple good changeups to lefties missed bats, a good, live fastball produced outs and strikeouts, and a good, hard slider, good curve.” Marquez has faced Oakland once – a 3-2 victory in 2018 at Coors Field when he permitted solo home runs to Matt Chapman and Khris Davis while striking out eight in 7 2/3 innings.

• Montas allowed one run, three hits and three walks with five strikeouts in the Athletics’ 7-3 victory in 10 innings over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday. The 27-year-old Dominican was a Cy Young Award candidate in 2019, going 9-2 with a 2.70 ERA in his first 15 starts before he was suspended 80 games for violating Major League Baseball’s performance-enhancing drug policy. Montas lost his only start against the Rockies – opposite Marquez – when he permitted three runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 frames.

• Oakland OF Ramon Laureano is off to a 7-for-17 start after going 2-for-5 on Tuesday.

• Colorado 3B Nolan Arenado has reached safely in 22 straight interleague games, batting .386 during that span.

• Davis is 0-for-15 to start the season. On Tuesday, he served as the designated hitter with Oakland for the 356th time, moving past Mitchell Page and into second on the club’s all-time list behind Dave Kingman (428).
