The Longhorns entered the NIT with five losses in their previous six games but have since defeated South Dakota State (79-73), Xavier (78-76, OT) and Colorado (68-55) en route to the semifinals. Guard Kerwin Roach II (14.8 points per game) and forward Dylan Osetkowski (10.9), both seniors, are the leading scorers and have stepped things up in the NIT with the duo averaging a combined 31 points and nine rebounds per outing. Freshman guard Courtney Ramey also has been hot in the postseason, averaging 13.7 points and five rebounds while hitting 9-of-17 from 3-point range for Texas, which is shooting 42.2 percent from long range as a team during the NIT.

The Horned Frogs have won their three NIT games by an average of 14 points, rolling to double-digit wins over Sam Houston State, Nebraska and Creighton in Fort Worth. Guard Desmond Bane, along with forwards JD Miller and Kouat Noi, are all averaging least 15 points and five rebounds per contest in the NIT while point guard Alex Robinson is contributing 11.3 points and 7.7 assists. TCU hasn’t been as effective (32.9 percent) as Texas from 3-point range in the tournament, but the Horned Frogs have been deadly inside the arc – converting 62.7 percent of their 2-point shot attempts.

Bane scored a total of 51 points, including 34 in the second meeting, in TCU’s two regular-season wins over Texas as the Horned Frogs enjoyed a cumulative 77-57 rebounding advantage in the contests. Roach led the Longhorns with 15 points in the first meeting but missed the second as part of a five-game disciplinary suspension.
