Current odds:
New York Rangers: (+105)
Los Angeles Kings: (-125)
• The New York Rangers are making headway away from home, winning three in a row on the road while piecing together a five-game point streak (4-0-1) outside of Madison Square Garden. The Rangers aim to continue their recent success on the road Tuesday when they visit the Los Angeles Kings. Artemi Panarin increased his team-leading totals in goals (14) and assists (22) with one of each in New York’s 5-0 victory versus Vegas. The 28-year-old Russian has collected at least a point in 18 of the last 22 games overall while registering seven (three goals, four assists) in his last seven versus the Kings, including two goals while playing with Columbus on Dec. 13, 2018.
• Los Angeles saw its losing skid extend to a season high-tying four games following a fruitless trek to Alberta, courtesy of a 2-1 setback in Edmonton on Friday and a 4-3 defeat versus Calgary the following night. “A pretty honest effort again by the group,” Kings coach Todd McLellan said, per the Los Angeles Times. “Moral victories aren’t what we aim for, but that’s what we’re taking out of the last two games.”
• Offensive-minded Tony DeAngelo has pumped in six points (one goal, five assists) in his last eight games to increase his team-leading point total among defensemen to 21. Since joining New York, DeAngelo has found the scoresheet in all four of his encounters against Los Angeles — recording one goal and three assists. Adam Fox has seven points (two goals, five assists) in his last nine games while fellow blue-liner Brady Skjei has five (two goals, three assists) in that same stretch.
• While Los Angeles has limped to an 0-10-1 record in its last 11 road contests, the club sports a 6-2-1 mark in the last nine at the Staples Center. Captain Anze Kopitar boosted his team-leading totals in goals (11) and assists (18) with one of each versus the Flames after being held off the scoresheet in each of his previous five games. The 32-year-old Slovene’s two power-play points in the first period on Saturday were a welcome change for Los Angeles, which totaled one goal with the man advantage in the previous seven games.
• New York has posted a 48-21-10 record against teams in the Pacific Division since the start of the 2014-15 season.
• Los Angeles G Jonathan Quick, who grew up idolizing former Rangers G Mike Richter, owns a 6-4-0 mark in 10 career starts versus New York.
• Rangers LW Brendan Lemieux was fined $2,000 by the NHL on Monday, one day after landing a spinning elbow to the temple of Vegas rookie Cody Glass.
