• Right-hander Jaime Barria will make his first start of the season Sunday afternoon as the Los Angeles Angels go for the win in their four-game series with the Minnesota Twins in Minneapolis. Barria (0-0, 10.50 ERA) was recalled Saturday from Triple-A Salt Lake; he was 3-2 with a 4.41 ERA in 10 starts there. He has made two relief appearances with the Angels this season, the last one coming May 18 in Los Angeles’ 6-5 loss to Cleveland. He allowed one hit over four scoreless innings.

• Barria, who is 15-19 with a 4.60 ERA in 54 appearances (44 starts), will face Minnesota for the first time in his career. And he’ll have some big shoes to fill after the performance by Patrick Sandoval in Saturday night’s 2-1 victory over the Twins.

• Sandoval no-hit the Twins for 8 1/3 innings before Brent Rooker hit a first-pitch slider down the right-field line. Rooker was called up from Triple-A St. Paul prior to Saturday’s game to take the roster spot of Nelson Cruz, who was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday.

• Sandoval, who walked one and struck out a career-high 13, bounced back to get Max Kepler to pop out before being pulled by Angels manager Joe Maddon in favor of closer Raisel Iglesias. Josh Donaldson then drilled a double to the fence in left to drive in Rooker, but Iglesias got Miguel Sano to strike out to end the threat for his 21st save. Sandoval (3-4), who has yet to pitch a complete game in his professional career, said he was well aware he was flirting with pitching the 12th no-hitter in team history. It was the third consecutive start that Sandoval has pitched at least seven innings.

• Baldelli will turn to 6-foot-9 right-hander Bailey Ober (1-1, 5.45) to try and earn a split of the four-game series with Los Angeles. Ober will make his 10th career start and first against the Angels.
