• The Los Angeles Dodgers will try to make history and earn home field throughout the playoffs when they visit the National League West-rival San Francisco Giants for the regular-season finale Sunday afternoon. Los Angeles can pass the 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers, who featured Jackie Robinson and Duke Snider among other Hall of Famers, for the franchise record with a 106th win on Sunday while San Francisco’s Bruce Bochy manages his final game. The Dodgers moved within a half game of Houston, which played later Saturday, for the best record in the majors with a 2-0 victory – their sixth straight – as Max Muncy launched his 35th homer among two hits and Hyun-Jin Ryu pitched seven scoreless frames. Los Angeles will send left-hander Rich Hill to the mound to start the series finale and the Giants counter with righty Dereck Rodriguez, who has just one win in his last seven appearances.

• The 64-year-old Bochy managed his 4,031st game Saturday to pass Sparky Anderson for seventh on major league baseball’s all-time list and boasts 2,003 wins (11th) along with three World Series titles (2010, 2012, 2014) with San Francisco. “I don’t know how I’m going to feel when it’s all over,” Bochy told USA Today. “I really don’t. I don’t think it will really hit me until I’m home. But it’s time to do this. I really believe that. It’s been some ride.”

• Hill makes his third appearance since returning from a nearly three-month stint on the injured list, after tossing two hitless innings last Tuesday at San Diego. The 39-year-old Boston native struck out five in that outing, reaching 1,000 for his career in 934 1/3 innings, but walked four batters in 2 2/3 frames since his return. Brandon Belt is 6-for-14 with a homer and two doubles versus Hill, who is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in two starts against the Giants in 2019.

• Rodriguez gets his first start since Sept. 8 against the Dodgers when he permitted five runs (two earned) on three hits and three walks over 4 2/3 innings. The 27-year-old Texan yielded five runs across 5 1/3 innings in three relief appearances since his last start and gave up two homers in that stretch to reach 20 over 97 1/3 frames this year. Jedd Gyorko is 3-for-5 against Rodriguez, who has given up 11 runs (eight earned) over 7 1/3 innings versus the Dodgers in 2019.

• The Dodgers have hit back-to-back homers 17 times this year, an NL record and one away from the major league mark set by Seattle in 1996.

• San Francisco OF Mike Yastrzemski, tied with OF Kevin Pillar for the team lead with 21 home runs, can join Dave Kingman (29, 1972) as the second rookie to top the club in that category.

• Los Angeles 3B Justin Turner (27 homers, 67 RBIs) has missed the last four games with back tightness and is not expected to play Sunday.
