The spread for the game is West Virginia by 1 point.

Senior guard Devonte Bandoo, who averages 7.8 points, tallied a team-best 18 against Texas Tech while Butler added 17 to increase his team-best scoring averaged to 15.8. Drew is seeking to get his club back in top-flight mode and he says games with heavy anxiety like the one against the Red Raiders are highly valuable. “Coaches would prefer a little more cushion, but these are those type of games that make or break a season,” Drew said. “You’re going to have a number of these games. You have to win them to have confidence. Thirty-point or twenty-point wins don’t happen often, but really they’re fools gold. A lot of times you go into the next game thinking things are too easy.”

The Mountaineers’ tough stretch has knocked them out of the Top 25 but the club still appears destined to receive an at-large NCAA Tournament berth. Freshman guard Miles McBride (9.5) scored 17 points in the victory over Iowa State for his second straight double-digit effort after being mired in single digits in seven of the previous eight contests. “He’s been like most freshmen, a little bit up and down, but he’s had some huge games,” Huggins said of McBride. “We’ve just got to continue to work with him and he’s got to continue to work to get more consistent, but he was very good (against the Cyclones).”

The Bears are hoping to have junior G-F Mark Vital and junior F Tristan Clark back from knee injuries after both sat out versus Texas Tech.
