• Seven points behind with five games to go, RB Leipzig’s title hopes are becoming increasingly remote, but at least the side from Eastern Germany kept the title race interesting into April. Two interesting coaches are in situ for this with 67-year-old veteran Friedhelm Funkel pitting his wits against the next big thing in Julian Nagelsmann, strongly linked to the Bayern job when it becomes available.

• Koln have not kept a clean sheet in 13 games – the longest such run in the whole league, and have also failed to score 11 times this season. Not a good mix all in all and certainly explains why the Billy Goats have inexorably slipped into the bottom two.

• Leipzig should seal the three points, plunging Koln into further trouble at the foot of the table.
