• Sevilla made a bright start to the season but they have tailed off a little in their last two outings, drawing both games. A disappointing Champions League draw with Salzburg was followed by a goalless draw with Real Sociedad. Nevertheless, Sevilla remain a top team and it should be only a matter of time before they return to form, especially now that Lucas Ocampos is back to full fitness – the winger playing a big role in Sevilla’s impressive season of last.

• Valencia enjoyed a fine start to the season, but they suffered a painful defeat last time out, leading against Real Madrid until the 86th minute thanks to Hugo Duro, but two goals in two minutes from Carlo Ancelotti’s men saw Los Che defeated.

• Joe Bordalas was very disappointed with his side’s final 15 minutes, and there is some learning for them to do against the better sides in this division if they are going to compete in the upper echelons of the La Liga table. That learning continues here against a strong and experienced Sevilla side who are should be confident of edging Valencia – regardless of their good form – at home, though it is likely to be a close game.
