Massimiliano Allegri should go back to his favoured 3-5-2 despite the absence of both Giorgio Chillini and Daniele Rugani in defence. Alex Sandro is expected to start once again, but the Brazilian will have to rest at some point to keep his good form going. Gonzalo Higuain should be safe to start as Mario Mandzukic is suffering from a muscular problem.

Vincenzo Montella is sticking with the XI he has trusted for most of the season even though that means new arrivals like Gustavo Gomez, José Sosa and Mario Pasalic miss out. Gianluca Lapadula was given a rare chance to lead the attack in Carlos Bacca’s absence but the Colombia international is back and expected to start. Despite his young age and the importance of the game, Manuel Locatelli should be in the middle of the park once again.

AC Milan are perfectly placed in joint-second as they look to secure a return to Europe. Nevertheless, Vincenzo Montella faces a huge challenge against title favourites Juventus and will need to prepare his players for the test to come.

For the first time this season Juventus were statistically outplayed by their opponents when they narrowly beat Lyon 1-0 in midweek. The Serie A champions needed a huge performance from Gianluigi Buffon to ensure victory but it was a huge show of mental fortitude.

Juventus seem to be in a league of their own and it’s hard to see where they will fall along the way to another league title. However, in a busy part of the fixture list even a giant like Juventus can slow and Milan will need to hope Allegri’s side have an off day as well as playing above and beyond their potential to stand a chance.
