Jeremain Lens and Ozan Tufan are doubts for Thursday’s trip to England after missing their 1-1 draw with Alanyaspor on Sunday through injury.

• Manchester United have only had three days to recover for this match having drawn 0-0 against Liverpool on Monday night. Jose Mourinho is expected to make wholesale changes against Fenerbahce with another huge game against Chelsea on Sunday.

• Manchester United earned a hard fought 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Monday and that would have taken a lot of some of the players. Jose Mourinho is expected to make changes to the side with tough league fixtures to come and this may result in another disjointed Europa League performance. Their dull 1-0 win over Zorya was just their third win in the competition in 10 attempts.

• Fenerbahce are having their own problems this season. They are currently in ninth in the Turkish Super Lig having only taken nine points from their opening seven matches. They have drawn their last two matches and failed to score more than one goal in any of their last three. Nevertheless, they are unbeaten in six and will be a tough side to beat for a United side that struggles in this competition.

• The Turkish side ran out 3-0 winners the last time these two sides met back in 2004 and while they won’t have similar joy this time around it will still be a difficult match for United to triumph in.
