First place in the American Athletic Conference West Division will be on the line Saturday when Navy hosts Tulsa. The Midshipmen are coming off an emotional one-point win over rival Notre Dame but will have to contend with a Golden Hurricane unit that has won three straight while averaging 51.3 points.

Junior D’Angelo Brewer rushed for 180 yards last week and needs 17 to join Flanders in the 1,000-yard club, giving the Golden Hurricane the most prolific backfield tandem in the country. Evans has eight TD passes and no interceptions during the winning streak and he needs 361 yards to become the school’s all-time leading passer, a spot currently held by Paul Smith (10,936).

Worth has run for at least 115 yards in four straight games and has found the end zone on a run in eight consecutive contests to start the year, the longest active streak in the country. Senior Jamir Tillman (27 catches, 403 yards) is the primary threat when the Midshipmen go to the air and junior fullback Chris High provides a nice complement to Worth with five rushing scores and an average of 6.7 yards per carry. Junior linebacker D.J. Palmore leads the defense with five sacks.

If and when Brewer reaches 1,000 yards, he and Flanders would become the first Tulsa duo to reach that milestone in the same year since 1982, when Michael Gunter and Ken Lacy combined for 2,561 yards.

The Midshipmen had a 469-78 advantage on the ground in last year’s encounter.

Navy leads the country in fewest penalty yards per game (16.4) while Tulsa is 97th (62.3).
