• Petco Park has not been kind to the Atlanta Braves since 2012, but they can take another step toward reversing the trend Saturday when they continue their three-game series against the San Diego Padres. Josh Donaldson had two homers and four RBIs in Friday’s 5-3 win as Atlanta opened the second half with an impressive showing against the Padres, who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end. Ronald Acuna Jr. added a solo blast and extended his career-long on-base streak to 18 games for the Braves, who are 25-10 since June 1 and hold a six-game lead over Washington in the National League East. The Braves won for just the fifth time in their last 23 games at Petco Park after closer Luke Jackson allowed a run in the ninth inning before retiring Manny Machado with a runner on to end the contest.

Machado was 3-for-5 with a home run for the Padres, who entered the All-Star break with a .500 record for the first time since 2010. Rookie shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. contributed two hits from the leadoff spot and is 15-for-44 with five homers and eight RBIs over his last 11 games.

After allowing a combined 15 runs in his previous three starts, Teheran recorded six strikeouts over six shutout innings against Miami last Friday. “He’s reliable,” manager Brian Snitker told reporters. “You know he’s going to prepare and be ready. He’ll go through some rough spots, but he’s a conscientious guy who works to get better.” Franmil Reyes is 3-for-6 with two homers against the 28-year-old, who is 5-4 with a 3.88 ERA in 11 career starts versus San Diego.

Lucchesi earned his first career victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers last Sunday, allowing three runs on six hits over 6 1/3 innings. The 26-year-old native Californian is 4-2 with a 3.46 ERA in his last 11 starts dating back to May 4. Lucchesi, who is making his first career appearance against Atlanta, owns a 6-2 record and 2.76 ERA in 10 home starts this season compared to a 1-2 mark and 5.79 ERA in seven outings away from Petco Park.

Atlanta placed LHP Grant Dayton on the 10-day injured list with a fractured right big toe and activated RHP Anthony Swarzak from the 10-day injured list.

San Diego placed LHP Eric Lauer and C Austin Hedges on the bereavement list, recalled C Austin Allen from Triple-A El Paso and selected the contract of RHP Andres Munoz from Double-A Amarillo.

Atlanta will recall RHP Bryse Wilson from Triple-A Gwinnett to start Tuesday’s contest against Milwaukee.
