• The Arizona Diamondbacks snapped their five-game losing streak by scoring a season-high 18 runs on Friday and look to carry that momentum into Saturday when they continue their three-game series against the host San Francisco Giants. Arizona had averaged 2.4 runs per game during its losing skid before erupting for a season-high 21 hits in Friday’s 18-2 victory. Adam Jones and Ildemaro Vargas went a combined 9-for-11 with two home runs and five RBIs in Friday’s victory while Ketel Marte, Eduardo Escobar and Nick Ahmed added a total of nine hits and eight RBIs. Outfielder Tim Locastro was recalled from Triple-A Reno prior to the contest and drove in two runs in place of David Peralta, who was placed on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.

• San Francisco lost its third straight despite another strong showing from Tyler Austin, who belted his fifth home run and has gone deep in three straight games. Austin started at first base on Friday but could soon receive playing time in left field, where Mac Williamson has just one hit in his last 27 at-bats with eight strikeouts in his last two contests.

• Clarke will be promoted from Triple-A Reno to make his second career start after allowing two runs in six innings against Tampa Bay on May 7. “He’s a name we’re all very familiar with,” manager Torey Lovullo told reporters. “Taylor’s throwing the ball extremely well. When he’s come up, he’s executed the right kind of game plan.” The 26-year-old native of Virginia last pitched on Monday in Reno, giving up four runs over 4 2/3 innings.

• Suarez made his season debut in last Monday’s 4-1 loss to Atlanta and allowed three runs on four hits in six innings. “He was a strike away from a great start,” manager Bruce Bochy told reporters. “He gave us a chance to win the game, but offensively, we just got completely shut down.” Marte is 5-for-9 with a home run against Suarez, who posted a 6.33 ERA in six starts for Triple-A Sacramento before last Monday’s promotion.

• San Francisco SS Brandon Crawford has missed the past two games due to conjunctivitis (pink eye) and is listed as day-to-day.

• The Diamondbacks recalled INF Kevin Cron from Triple-A Reno.

• The Giants are 13-5 in one-run games this season.
