• The Arizona Diamondbacks aim to finish their season-opening six-game road trip with a .500 record when they visit the offensively-challenged Texas Rangers on Wednesday afternoon to complete their interleague set. The Diamondbacks dropped three of four at San Diego, managing nine runs combined, but scored three times in the first inning of a 4-1 victory at Texas on Tuesday. Merrill Kelly took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and Ketel Marte (7-for-21 overall) added two singles in Arizona’s victory while center fielder Starling Marte (7-for-19) hit safely for the fifth straight game to open the season for his new team. Veteran left-hander Madison Bumgarner gets the ball in the series finale for the Diamondbacks and the Rangers will counter with righty Lance Lynn, who was outstanding in his first start of the season.

Texas managed three hits Tuesday and have scored just six times in its first four contests with many of the key offensive performers scuffling. Shin-Soo Choo, Elvis Andrus, Danny Santana and Todd Frazier are a combined 5-for-54 in the early going for the Rangers, who are 2-8 in their last 10 interleague games dating back to 2019.

• Bumgarner completed five scoreless innings in his club debut Friday before surrendering three runs and retiring just two batters in the sixth to take the loss. The 30-year-old North Carolina native, who went 9-9 with San Francisco last year, gave up four runs and three walks with four strikeouts in the 7-2 setback at San Diego. Rougned Odor is 3-for-3 versus Bumgarner, who lost his only previous matchup with Texas.

• Lynn picked up where he left off last season in his first start of 2020, blanking Colorado on two hits and four walks over six innings with nine strikeouts Friday. The 33-year-old Indiana native won 16 games in 2019, second only to his All-Star Game season in 2012 when he finished with 18 victories. David Peralta is 6-for-14 with a homer against Lynn, who is 6-1 (1-1 last year) with a 3.22 ERA in 13 career appearances (11 starts) versus Arizona.

• Texas OF Joey Gallo, who owns the team’s only homer this season, is 1-for-27 all time versus the Diamondbacks.

• Arizona signed C Alberto Rosario on Tuesday and added him to its 60-player pool.

• The Rangers placed RHP Corey Kluber on the 45-day disabled list Tuesday with a torn shoulder muscle and activated LHP Brett Martin (Covid-19).
