• The Los Angeles Dodgers look to extend the longest active winning streak in the major leagues to six games when they visit the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday for the second contest of their four-game series. Cody Bellinger hit his 10th home run of the campaign and Max Muncy added a two-run shot as Los Angeles posted a 3-1 victory on Thursday. Reigning National League MVP Christian Yelich belted his 10th homer in the ninth inning – tying Bellinger and Oakland’s Khris Davis for most in the majors – to keep the Brewers from being shut out. Milwaukee took two of three in Los Angeles last weekend in the first meeting of 2019 between last year’s NL Championship Series participants.
• Bellinger, who leads the majors with a .432 batting average, is tormenting the Brewers this season as he has gone 7-for-14 with three homers in the four meetings. Muncy had failed to homer in each of his previous seven games before bashing a sixth-inning shot to give Los Angeles a 3-0 lead.
• Stripling picked up his first win of the season against the Brewers on Sunday, when he allowed just one run and four hits over eight innings. The 29-year-old has a superb 0.97 WHIP while holding opposing hitters to a .202 average but could lose his starting spot once Rich Hill (knee) is ready to return later this month. Stripling has posted a 0.69 ERA in four career appearances (two starts) against Milwaukee and has shut down Yelich (1-for-7) while struggling with Travis Shaw (3-for-7).
• Chacin was rocked for six runs and six hits over 2 1/3 innings while losing to Stripling and the Dodgers on Sunday. The 31-year-old allowed just three hits in each of his first three outings, but four of them were homers. Chacin is 11-10 with a 4.70 ERA in 27 career appearances (26 starts) against Los Angeles and has served up three homers to Joc Pederson (4-for-15) and two to Bellinger (5-for-12).
• Dodgers 3B Justin Turner (hamstring) went 0-for-3 with a walk on Thursday after missing two straight starts.
• Yelich has recorded five homers and 12 RBIs over his last four games and leads the majors with 27 RBIs.
• Los Angeles LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu (groin) threw a bullpen session on Thursday and will be activated to start Saturday’s contest.
