• The Seattle Mariners have tripled their losses in a four-game span while the Cleveland Indians halted a three-game slide in the series opener. The Indians look to make it two straight wins to start the three-game set when they visit the Mariners on Tuesday. Cleveland recorded a 6-4 victory on Monday as Carlos Santana reached base four times on two hits and two walks while the slumping Jose Ramirez belted his first homer of the season. Seattle received back-to-back, eighth-inning homers from Edwin Encarnacion and Omar Narvaez to extend its major-league record to 19 consecutive games with a blast to open the season.

• The Mariners kicked off 2019 with a franchise-best 13-2 record but have gone 0-4 on a six-game homestand that began with three straight losses to Houston. The Indians are 2-4 on a nine-game road trip and their struggling offense has scored 14 runs in the last two contests after recording just six in their previous four games.

• Bieber stood out in his last outing as he gave up just three hits in seven scoreless innings while defeating Detroit. The 23-year-old has given up just two runs and five hits while striking out 15 over 13 frames in his two starts. Bieber is 8-0 with a 3.25 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 13 career road appearances (12 starts).

• Leake served up three homers in a no-decision against Kansas City in his last outing and has allowed five blasts in his last two starts. The 31-year-old won both of his first two starts of the season, giving up two runs each time. Leake is 4-2 with a 3.98 ERA in nine career turns against the Indians and has struggled with Hanley Ramirez (6-for-12, one homer, six RBIs).

• Indians 2B Jason Kipnis (calf) was activated from the injured list and went 1-for-3 with an RBI in his season debut while INF Brad Miller was designated for assignment.

• Seattle LF Domingo Santana went 3-for-4 with a run-scoring single on Monday to extend his major league-leading RBI count to 24.

• Cleveland SS Francisco Lindor (calf/ankle) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.
