• The Miami Marlins have been flexing their muscles at the plate as a means to get back on track in a season that long since appeared to go off the rails. After erupting for 42 runs during their four-game winning streak, the surging Marlins bid for their third series sweep of 2019 on Thursday afternoon when they conclude their three-game set at the Milwaukee Brewers. Miami belted three homers in a 16-0 romp in the series opener and continued to test the limits of Miller Park on Wednesday, as Brian Anderson went deep for the second time in as many days with his first career grand slam in an 8-3 victory. The Marlins have averaged 6.0 runs per game and launched 23 homers while winning 13 of their last 18 games, a staggering transformation after the club mustered just 2.6 and 24, respectively, while losing 31 of its first 41 contests.

• Milwaukee’s Yasmani Grandal has four multi-hit performance in his last six outings. Grandal’s two-run homer in the ninth inning did little to help the slumping Brewers, who have lost four of their last five at home.

• Smith fell to 0-3 in his last five trips to the mound despite allowing just two runs for the fourth time in that stretch in a 5-2 setback at San Diego on Friday. The 27-year-old only permitted three hits versus the Padres, but two left the yard. The home run ball has been an issue for Smith, who has been taken deep eight times in his last seven outings and 10 times in 2019 after surrendering 10 homers all over last season.

• Peralta, who enters into the rotation spot vacated by the injured Gio Gonzalez (arm fatigue), received his third no-decision in his last four trips to the mound on Friday after allowing two runs in 3 1/3 innings at Pittsburgh. The 23-year-old Dominican has struggled at Miller Park this season, posting a 1-2 mark with a 6.98 ERA while allowing the opposition to bat .289 against him. Peralta yielded three runs on as many hits in 3 2/3 innings of a start versus Miami, although the current Marlins’ roster is batting 2-for-10 against him.

• Milwaukee SS Orlando Arcia had an RBI double in the second inning on Wednesday to hit safely for the 13th time in 16 games.

• Anderson is 18-for-58 with five homers in his last 15 games.

• Brewers RF Christian Yelich, a former Marlin, is 7-for-14 with three extra-base hits (homer, triple, double) and four RBIs in his last four games.
