Kemba Walker has settled in nicely for the Boston Celtics following a sluggish opener and the star point guard will try to raise his game a bit more when his team hosts the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday. After scoring 12 points on 4-of-18 shooting in a season-opening loss at Philadelphia, Walker is averaging 27 points in two victories. Walker hit 7-of-12 from 3-point range in a 32-point effort to guide the Celtics to a 118-95 win at New York on Saturday, one night after an emotional win over Toronto at home. “I think just our energy. We picked it up,” Walker told reporters of the key to the easy win over the Knicks. “Defensively, I thought at times we let our offense dictate our defense. We just kept ramping it up and were able to come out on top.”

The Bucks ousted Boston from the playoffs in five games in the Eastern Conference semifinals last spring and they also won two of three meetings during the regular season. Milwaukee enters this one after splitting a two-game homestand with a 129-112 win over Cleveland on Monday.

Superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo was held to 14 points on 5-of-15 from the field against the Cavaliers, but six others scored at least that many points in the team’s best offensive showing of the young season. “We play great together; we have great continuity,” reserve guard Pat Connaughton, who scored 17 points, told reporters. “For us, it’s about making sure we bring the energy and winning plays and do our job.” Connaughton hit 4-of-5 from 3-point range and Kyle Korver was 3-for-3 as Milwaukee buried 44.7 percent of its long-range attempts against Cleveland after a loss to Miami in which it missed 37 from beyond the arc.

Boston had to piece it together in the paint on Saturday with centers Enes Kanter (knee) and Daniel Theis (ankle) unavailable. Robert Williams III received his third career start and contributed four points, seven rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot in 22 minutes, while 7-6 rookie Tacko Fall returned from concussion protocol to chip in four points and three rebounds in a four-minute NBA debut. Guard Jaylen Brown is averaging 22 points in the Celtics’ two-game winning streak after being held to eight in the loss to the 76ers.

Bucks SF Khris Middleton is averaging 23 points while making 7-of-16 3-pointers over his last two games.

Walker averaged 24.3 points in four matchups against the Bucks last season while with Charlotte.

Korver is averaging 11.5 points in 18 minutes off the bench over the last two contests while making seven of his 12 3-point attempts.
