Who will WIN this matchup?
Memphis Grizzlies (6-16)
@ Golden State Warriors (5-19)
Current odds:
Memphis Grizzlies: (+135)
Golden State Warriors: (-155)
• The line for this game is Warriors by 3 points.
• The Golden State Warriors avoided going winless on a five-game road trip by winning the finale at the Chicago Bulls on Friday and will try to pick on another downtrodden foe when they host the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday. The Warriors own two of their five wins against Chicago and earned a 114-95 victory at Memphis on Nov. 19. Golden State shot 53.5 percent from the floor in Friday’s triumph in a bounce-back effort after a pair of ugly losses at Atlanta and Charlotte. “Our guys have been fighting and competing all season long,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters after Friday’s triumph. “The last two games, we sort of got off track. I think they knew that. They took that to heart and everyone who stepped on the floor tonight came out with a purpose.”
• The Grizzlies are losers of three straight and nine of their last 10 after dropping the first two of a four-game road trip. “We’re on a road trip, tough road trip,” Grizzlies forward Jae Crowder told reporters. “We just have to dig in and find a way. We’ve got a few guys down and we just have to find a way to play the right way for 48 minutes and give ourselves a chance to win each game.”
• The bright spot in Saturday’s 126-112 loss at Utah came from forward Jaren Jackson Jr., who scored 26 points on 9-of-18 shooting. “You know, just finding my spots and getting on balance,” Jackson, who shot 50 percent or better in three of the last four games, told reporters. “It just comes from shooting extra after practice. You got to just do the reps, because when you do the reps it feels better in the game.” Memphis was without star rookie point guard Ja Morant, who missed his fourth straight game with back spasms and remains day-to-day.
• Golden State shot 39.8 percent from the floor in the 104-79 setback at Atlanta and managed 37 points in the second half – 15 in the fourth quarter – of the 106-91 loss at Charlotte but stayed consistent on Friday with at least 23 points in every frame during the 100-98 triumph. “It felt good,” forward Eric Paschall told the San Francisco Chronicle. “We played the whole game hard, and that’s a big step for us. After the last two games, we felt like we didn’t compete at a high level.” Paschall (13 points, 5-of-10 shooting) and Glenn Robinson III (20 points, 8-of-12) both enjoyed strong performances in the win.
• Warriors G D’Angelo Russell (thumb) is averaging 12.5 points on 9-of-22 shooting in two games since returning to the lineup.
• Grizzlies SF Kyle Anderson (heel) and SG Dillon Brooks (shoulder) are both day-to-day.
• Golden State took six of the last seven meetings.
