Heat @ Magic

Who will WIN this matchup?

Miami Heat (15-16)

@ Orlando Magic (14-17)

Current odds:

Miami Heat: (+120)

Orlando Magic: (-140)

The line for this game is Orlando by 2.5 points.

• The Orlando Magic failed to build off two solid wins in Mexico City last week and look to avoid a three-game losing streak when they host the surging Miami Heat on Sunday. The Magic knocked off Chicago 97-91 and Utah 96-89 in contests South of the Border, but they were routed at home by San Antonio on Wednesday and shot 32.6 percent in a 90-80 setback at Chicago two nights later.  The Magic have defeated the Heat in each of their first two meetings this campaign, including a 104-101 home triumph in the season opener, and will lean on leading scorer and rebounder Nikola Vucevic against a Miami team that has won four straight contests.

• The Heat took a big early lead against Milwaukee on Saturday, squandered it in the second quarter and then seized control by scoring 35 points in the third while limiting Giannis Antetokounmpo to a season-low nine in a 94-87 victory. Miami has held opponents to 94.8 points per game during its longest winning streak of the season – a stretch that has seen Josh Richardson average 19.5 points.

• Richardson has either held or shared the team lead in scoring in each game during the team’s winning streak while Hassan Whiteside has hauled in 42 rebounds in his last three contests. Dwyane Wade made a pair of big baskets down the stretch and finished with 13 points off the bench on Saturday as Miami survived despite shooting just 38.2 percent. Justise Winslow returned after missing Thursday’s win over Houston with an ankle injury and filled the stat sheet with eight points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals.

• Gordon, who averaged a team-high 23 points in the first two games against Miami this season, has shot just 28.3 percent over his last five contests. Vucevic leads the way at 20.5 points and 12 rebounds (19 in each of the last two games) per contest and Evan Fournier is averaging 20 points over his last three games to push his season mark to 15.4. Terrence Ross was 8-for-9 overall and 3-for-3 from 3-point range in the win over Utah on Dec. 15 but is just 4-for-22 in the two contests since.

• Miami G Tyler Johnson was held to seven points on 1-of-6 shooting Saturday after averaging 17 over his previous three contests.

• Orlando F Jonathon Simmons (ankle) missed the game in Chicago on Friday and is questionable.

• Heat F Derrick Jones Jr. is averaging 11 points on 16-of-30 shooting and 6.8 rebounds over his last four contests.
