The Utah Jazz embark on their longest remaining road trip when they meet up with the staggering Golden State Warriors in an afternoon affair Sunday in San Francisco. The Jazz put consecutive losses leading into the All-Star break behind them when they handled the Houston Rockets 114-99 to start the second half Friday at home. But now it’s a brief jaunt west to face the Warriors before changing direction for stops in Boston, Washington, Toronto and Chicago.

The Jazz and Warriors will be meeting for the second time this season. Golden State appeared only to be going through the motions on a one-day trip amid four home games when they were crushed 127-108 in Salt Lake City in January, needing a 36-19, reserve-created run in the fourth quarter to make the score even somewhat respectable.

The Warriors just completed a four-game trip bridging the All-Star break on which they went winless, losing a two-point contest at Portland amid three drubbings by a total of 74 points to Phoenix and the two Los Angeles teams.

Golden State opened its second half with a 130-104 road loss to the Clippers on Thursday. The Warriors benched rookie James Wiseman for three quarters because of a missed COVID-19 test, then watched Stephen Curry miss seven of his eight shots from behind the arc. Curry could be seen lashing out at his teammates during a timeout as the game quickly got out of hand.

Doing so against the Jazz will be no easy task, although the Warriors have won three straight at home. They will be playing on their home court for the first time since beating Charlotte on Feb. 26. Bouncing back from a rare losing streak, the Jazz seemed to be firing on most cylinders in Friday’s win over the Rockets. All five starters and reserve Jordan Clarkson scored in double figures in a game in which Utah shot 48.1 percent from the field.

Utah has beaten Golden State five straight times, including 14- and 33-point victories in their only previous visits to the two-year-old Chase Center in San Francisco.
