The line for the game is New York by 2.5 points.

D’Angelo Russell scored 29 points on 13-of-22 shooting – his best shooting performance since Oct. 28 – in the win over the Raptors. Jarrett Allen added 12 points and 10 rebounds for his seventh double-double in the last 12 games, chipping in two blocks and two steals for a team that has given up an average of 105 points in four December contests – more than five below its season average. Allen Crabbe made 3-of-8 from 3-point range Friday and is shooting 45.2 percent from beyond the arc this month after hitting 35.2 percent in November and 30.6 percent in October.

Among the many issues the organization is dealing with as it attempts to rebuild is the lack of development of 2017 first-rounder Frank Ntilikina, who hasn’t left the bench in three straight games after going scoreless on 0-of-8 shooting over the previous two contests. “You spend a lot of time talking to him, we constantly keep coaching the details with him,” coach David Fizdale told reporters at Friday’s practice. “Constant encouragement. Like I said, it ain’t like he’s out of the loop. He’s right there for me. I think Frank’s going to come out just fine on the other side of this.” Emmanuel Mudiay has gobbled up most of Ntilikina’s minutes and is averaging 20.3 points over the last three games.

Hardaway had 25 points and eight assists in the previous meeting, a 115-96 win for New York at Madison Square Garden on Oct. 29.
