The Brooklyn Nets will continue to operate without star point guard Kyrie Irving throughout a three-game road trip, which begins with a visit to the city rival New York Knicks on Sunday. Irving has missed the past four games with a right shoulder impingement and has been ruled out for the entirety of the trip that includes visits to take on his two former teams in Cleveland and Boston. The Nets have had few issues without their leader by going 3-1 in his absence after wrapping up a homestand with a 116-97 victory over Sacramento on Friday. “We’re just trying to play good basketball, play the right way,” forward Joe Harris told reporters. “We’ve done a better job here lately defensively. When you’re able to get stops, things offensively come a lot easier.”

The Knicks rallied late before falling 111-104 to the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday. Marcus Morris Sr. had a team-high 20 points as New York fell to 3-5 at home.

Spencer Dinwiddie has started all four games since Irving was sidelined and has at least 20 points in each of them. Harris chipped in 22 points in the win over the Kings while shooting 8-of-11, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range. Dinwiddie scored 20 points in 27 minutes off the bench in a home win over the Knicks earlier this season.

Morris has three straight efforts with at least 20 points and he’s hit 8-of-13 3-pointers over the last two games. Frank Ntilikina contribute season highs of assists (nine) and steals (six) while playing 35 minutes without a turnover. Fellow guard Allonzo Trier, who has not seen any action in five straight games, produced 22 points to lead New York in the earlier loss to Brooklyn.

Nets C Jarrett Allen is 30-for-40 from the field over his last five games.

Knicks PF Bobby Portis scored 16 points in 20 minutes Saturday while tying a season high with four made 3-pointers.

Brooklyn has won three straight meetings by a combined 22 points.
