Mason (8-13, 2-8 A-10) will play at UMass on Friday in a game that was originally scheduled for Jan. 1. The Patriots are 5-6 on the road this season.

Mason recently fell to A-10 preseason favorite Dayton on Saturday in Ohio. The Patriots could not overcome a 17-point first-quarter hole, falling 84-44. Dayton made eight three-pointers and forced 23 Patriot turnovers.

Mason dropped to 1-9 when its opponent makes seven-or-more three-pointers. Conversely, the Patriots are 3-2 when they make 7+ three-pointers.

Junior Tamia Lawhorne led the Patriots with 10 points vs. the Flyers. She has scored in double figures in back-to-back games for the Patriots.

Sophomore Taylor Jameson has posted six double-digit scoring performances in Atlantic 10 play. In league action, she’s averaging 10.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.

With victories over GW (Jan. 29) and Davidson (Feb. 2), Mason won back-to-back A-10 games for the first time since 2018-19 when the Patriots defeated Dayton on Feb. 24 (54-51) and Saint Joseph’s on Feb. 27 (68-59).

Mason held its opponent to 50 points or fewer in back-to-back games – GW and Davidson – for the first time since the 2017-18 season when the Patriots defeated Eastern Kentucky on Dec. 9 (64-41) and UMBC on Dec. 11 (58-38).

Mason is 8-2 when leading at the half, and 5-1 when leading with five minutes to go. Conversely, the Patriots are 0-10 when trailing at the half.

Mason has switched to a two-point guard lineup over the last six games, featuring Jameson and Jayla Adams. Over that stretch, Jameson is averaging 11.0 points and 2.8 assists while Adams is averaging 7.0 points and 4.2 assists.

Adams is currently averaging 3.8 assists per game – good for seventh in the A-10. She’s led the team in assists 15 times this season and has dished out five-plus assists in eight games.

Mason ranks 66th in the nation in free throws made, sinking 283 this season (.699). The Patriots have shot 70.0 percent or better from the line in 13 games but have shot under that mark in their last three contests.

UMass is on a three-game winning streak entering Friday’s contest, recently defeating St. Bonaventure, 78-59, on Wednesday in Olean. The Minutewomen’s three A-10 losses came against the league’s undefeated duo of Rhode Island and Dayton.

UMass ranks 16th nationally in rebounds (954) and 64th in scoring offense (.714) which both lead the Atlantic 10. Senior Sam Breen, who is averaging 16.4 points per game, leads the conference in double-doubles with 14 – good for 11th nationally. She finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds against St. Bonaventure. She ranks 21st in the country in rebounds per game (10.8) and 25th in field goals made (155).
