Texas’ pressure defense has made an impression on the national and Big 12 scene this year under head coach Vic Schaefer. Led by season-high efforts of 35 and 34 turnovers forced against SMU (Nov. 25) and at Kansas State (Dec. 21), respectively, Texas leads the Big 12 in turnovers forced per game (19.00) and turnover margin (+5.21). Both marks rank in the top 40 nationally this season.

Texas is utilizing its defense to create offense this season, as the Longhorns has scored at least 20 points off turnovers in 14 games this season. The Longhorns posted a season-high 39 points off turnovers in the season opener versus SMU, and hit the 30-point mark in three-straight outings against Drake (33 points), at Kansas State (38 points) and against Lamar (32 points). Texas is 13-1 when scoring at least 20 points off turnovers this year.

The Terrapins are averaging 91.8 points per game,, which is leading the country and the highest in program history. This is the highest scoring team in program history. Maryland is the only team in the country with six players scoring in double figures.

Maryland is leading the nation in assist/turnover ratio (1.70), is No. 2 in three-point FG percentage (.406) and in field goal percentage (.499), No. 3 in assists (20.5), No. 5 in scoring margin (+22.7) and No. 8 in FT percentage (.790). Katie Benzan leads the country in 3-point FG percentage (.506) and Owusu is fourth in assists (166).

The Terrapins are on pace to top program records in three-point FG percentage (.403 in 1988-89), FT percentage (.758 in 2014-15) and assists per game (19.8 in 2016-17). Owusu and Miller are on pace to top the record for points averaged by a sophomore in program history (17.8 by Kaila Charles in 2017-18).
