Providence Friars (6-2)

@ Boston College Eagles (6-1)

Current odds:

Providence Friars: (+150)

Boston College Eagles: (-170)

•  The line for this game is Boston College by 3.5 points.

• Providence took care of one regional rival in a sluggish affair over the weekend and they’ll need to step up their game to defeat another when they visit Boston College on Tuesday. The Friars shot just 36 percent and saw leading scorer Alpha Diallo fail to make a basket in 33 minutes but survived to top Rhode Island 59-50 on Saturday for their third straight win.

• Boston College enters this matchup on a four-game winning after knocking off Sacred Heart 81-73 at home Thursday night. Freshman Wynston Tabbs stayed hot with a personal-best 28 points to go along with seven rebounds, five assists and three steals in the victory.

• Diallo was 0-for-6 from the floor and made five free throws in his rough showing against the Rams, while freshman guard A.J. Reeves picked up some of the slack with 15 points. Reeves is averaging 13.8 points – second to Diallo’s 17 points per game – and shooting 52.8 percent from the floor, including 19-of-40 from 3-point distance. Sophomore big man Nate Watson chipped in 12 points Saturday for his fourth straight double-digit effort – all off the bench – while recording a season-high three blocks.

• Junior star Ky Bowman leads the Eagles in scoring (19.4) but he has not been the high scorer in each of the team’s last three games as the supporting cast begins to step up. Tabbs has stood out the most and is averaging 22.5 points on 16-of-27 shooting over the last two games while recording five assists and three steals both times. Junior forward Nik Popovic is averaging 15.3 points and six rebounds in the last three contests after sitting out the team’s win over Wyoming on Nov. 19.

• Diallo scored 15 points and Bowman had 19 in Providence’s 86-66 win over the Eagles last season at home.

• Friars PG David Duke is averaging four points while shooting 5-for-18 from the floor over his last three games, which comes on the heels of three straight double-digit scoring efforts.

• Highly-regarded Boston College freshman F Jairus Hamilton had 10 points and nine rebounds in only 17 minutes against Sacred Heart.
