The line for this game is Purdue by 2 points.

• Texas looks to get back on track when it hosts No. 24 Purdue on Sunday. The Longhorns beat 12th-ranked North Carolina 92-89 on Nov. 22 to ratchet up expectations in Austin but have dropped three straight games, including disappointing back-to-back home losses to Radford (62-59) and VCU (54-53) to tumble out of the Top 25, and hope to bounce back by knocking off a Big Ten opponent for the first time since 2014.

• Purdue ended a mini two-game slide with a hard-fought 62-60 win over No. 23 Maryland on Thursday. The Boilermakers have been held to an average of 64 points over their last three games but found a way to end their seven-game losing skid to ranked opponents despite failing to hit a shot from the field in the final 5:18 against the Terrapins.

• Carsen Edwards went a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line en route to a team-high 20 points in the win against Maryland to move into 30th place on the program’s all-time scoring list with 1,261 career points. Edwards, who leads the Big Ten in scoring at 23.9 points per game, drained three 3-pointers to vault into ninth spot on Purdue’s all-time list with 178 and has made at least one long distance field goal in 19 consecutive outings. Aaron Wheeler provided a spark off the bench as he added a career-high 15 points while Matt Haarms produced 10 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots to move within six blocks of reaching 100 for his career.

• Jericho Sims scored a team-high 14 points against VCU to finish in double figures for the second straight game and seventh time in his career. Jaxson Hayes added eight points and a season-high three blocked shots while Dylan Osetkowski and Matt Coleman each tallied seven points, but it wasn’t enough as the Longhorns suffered three straight non-conference losses for the first time since Nov. 2016. Senior leader Kerwin Roach, who averaged 12.3 points per game in 2017-18, looks to rediscover his shooting touch as he was limited to four points on 1-of-11 shooting against the Rams after finishing 2-for-12 from the field in the loss to Radford.

• Texas has dropped five consecutive games to Big Ten teams.

• Edwards has scored at least 20 points in seven of nine games this season.

• The Boilermakers have won 12 straight games against unranked opponents.
