Current odds:

South Carolina: (TBD)

Michigan: (TBD)

•  The line for this game is Michigan by 18 points.

• Fifth-ranked Michigan looks to continue its winning ways when it resumes non-conference play at home versus South Carolina on Saturday. The Wolverines won back-to-back Big Ten games, including a hard-fought 62-60 road victory against Northwestern on Tuesday, to stay unbeaten, and hope to extend their non-conference home winning streak to 17 games.

•  South Carolina is heading in the wrong direction after dropping two of its last three games to fall to .500. The Gamecocks are coming off a surprising 73-64 setback to Wyoming on Wednesday but have won the last two recent meetings with Michigan, including a 61-46 victory on Nov, 23, 2016 when the Wolverines were ranked 25th nationally. “When you go out on the road you gotta have leadership,” South Carolina coach Frank Martin told reporters. “You need your upperclassmen to lead the way.”

•  A.J. Lawson was one of the few bright spots on offense as the freshman guard scored a team-high 15 points and collected nine rebounds in the loss to Wyoming. Chris Silva added 11 points and eight rebounds but went 3-of-11 from the floor as the Gamecocks shot 33.3 percent as a team against the Cowboys. Hassani Gravett, who is averaging 10 points a game this season, was limited to two points in 18 minutes as the Gamecocks finished 3-of-20 from 3-point range to finish under 30 percent from beyond the arc for the fourth time in eight games.

Freshman forward Iggy Brazdeikis led the way with 23 points against the Wildcats to go along with four rebounds and two assists on a night where points were at a premium. Jordan Poole, who is the reigning Big Ten Player of the Week, scored 15 points while Zavier Simpson added 10 points and five assists but missed all five of his 3-point attempts as the Wolverines finished 5-of-20 from beyond the arc. The Wolverines, who have won 23 of their last 24 games with their lone blemish a 79-62 loss to Villanova in the National Championship game, are ranked third nationally in scoring defense (52.7).

• Michigan has beaten its non-conference opponents by an average margin of 21.7 points.

• South Carolina has lost six straight road games dating back to last season.

• Brazdeikis has scored at least 20 points in four of his last five games.
