• Southern Utah returns the majority of its Big Sky regular season championship team from last year and it shows as they sit in second place tied with Weber State.

• SUU is led by the quartet of Tevian Jones, John Knight III, Maizen Fausett and Dre Marin. Jones leads the team with 16.2 points per game. Meanwhile Knight II is second on the team with 14.3 points per game and averages 4.2 assists per game.

• Fausett is the team leader in rebounds with 8.8 per game but can stretch the defense on the other end shooting 32.1% from behind the arc. Marin does a little of everything averaging 11.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists.

• Kur Jongkuch ended up with his seventh double-double of the year scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the win.

• Dru Kuxhausen extended his streak to eight game with 10-pluse points scored. He had 15 on Thursday. Kuxhausen leads in the Big Sky in three-pointers per game (3.17) and second in three-point field goal percentage (44.2). That also ranks in the top 20 nationally for both stats.

• UNC had a strong defensive effort holding Sacramento State to 40.0% shooting. It’s the third straight game the Bears held its opponent under 44.0% shooting.

• Northern Colorado opened the new year in Cedar City in a strong fashion making 17 three-pointers in a 91-81 win over Southern Utah.

• SUU comes into Monday winners of five of the last six including an 83-57 win at Sacramento State on Saturday.
