• After stumbling badly in its first true road game of the season, Connecticut returns home and will try to avoid a third consecutive defeat against Central Florida on Saturday afternoon in Hartford, Conn. The Huskies have dominated the series with the Golden Knights, winning 11 of 13 overall and all six at home against their American Athletic Conference rivals. UConn (9-5, 0-1 AAC) squandered an early 13-point lead in dropping a 76-68 decision at South Florida in Wednesday’s conference opener, allowing 51 second-half points for the second straight game.

• UCF (11-2, 1-0) is off to its best start since winning its first 14 in 2010-11 after holding off Temple 78-73 in its league opener. Although the Bulls have struggled against UConn, they won the last meeting between the teams 70-61 in January 2018 to snap an eight-game skid in the series.

• Guard B.J. Taylor, the conference’s Preseason Player of the Year, missed last season’s meeting against UConn but scored a game-high 24 points versus Temple to boost his average to 18.0 points per game. Golden Knights 7-foot-6 center Tacko Fall ranks fourth in the nation with 3.31 blocked shots and has posted back-to-back double-doubles while scoring in double figures the last four games. Junior transfer Aubrey Dawkins is second on the team in scoring (15.2) and is the first player in school history to score in double figures in each of his first 13 games.
