Who will WIN this matchup?

Wake Forest Demon Deacons (4-2)

@ Richmond Spiders (2-5)

Current odds:

Wake Forest Demon Deacons: (-105)

Richmond Spiders: (-115)

The line for the game is Richmond by 1 point.

Junior guard Brandon Childress scored a game-high 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting, pushing his team-leading scoring average to 17.5. Childress and Hoard were bright spots, but there wasn’t much else to be excited about from a Demon Deacons perspective as they were outrebounded 37-35 by a Catamounts team whose tallest player is 6-7. The media voted Wake Forest to finish 14th in the 15-team ACC prior to the season, and it has done nothing to show that it’s going to be competitive in conference play with shaky wins like Wednesday and early-season losses to Saint Joseph’s and Houston Baptist.

Gilyard, a sophomore guard who has missed the last two games, averaged 20 points per game in his first four before hurting his groin; he is listed as questionable for Saturday. Sherod, a returning starting forward, suffered a season-ending knee injury on Nov. 25 and was replaced in the starting lineup by senior Julius Johnson, who notched a season-high 14 against the Hoyas. Freshman Andre Gustavson made his first career start against Georgetown and recorded 10 assists, the most by a Richmond player in the last two seasons.
