• Jamarius Burton, a 6-4 guard, was key to Wichita State tallying 19 second-chance points against Oral Roberts as five of the freshman’s career-high eight rebounds were on the offensive end. Senior Markis McDuffie scored 19 of his team-high 25 points after halftime Wednesday, helping the Shockers outscore an opponent in the second half for the first time since a Nov. 25 win against Rice and for only the third time this season. Junior De’Riante Jenkins led the Rams with a season-high 23 points in the loss to Charleston – shooting 7-for-8 on 2-pointers and 2-for-11 on 3s. Forward Marcus Santos-Silva matched his season high with 16 points while grabbing a team-high 12 rebounds last Saturday (six offensive) as the junior was 22nd in the country in offensive boards per game (3.45).

• Wichita State has outrebounded its opponents by double digits in all three games since getting pummeled on the glass 52-33 in a loss to Oklahoma Dec. 8 – the program’s worst rebounding margin in 20 years.
