Virginia Tech Hokies: (-135)

Boston College Eagles: (+115)

• The line for this game is Virginia Tech by 2.5 points.

• Virginia Tech visits Boston College in a rare Friday night affair in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Hokies (4-4, 2-2 ACC) opened the season with three wins in four games, but dropped three in a row before bouncing back with a 26-17 win at Georgia Tech last Saturday. Tre Turner’s big day in the passing game highlighted the win as the junior made seven catches for 187 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Braxton Burmeister completed 15 of 25 passes for 254 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

• Both teams are shooting for their fifth win of the season in pursuit of bowl eligibility. But Boston College remains winless in ACC play.

• The Eagles (4-4, 0-4) come in riding a four-game losing streak that followed four straight victories to start the season. BC fell 21-6 at Syracuse last week to extend its longest skid under second-year coach Jeff Hafley. The Eagles played two quarterbacks in their loss to the Orange and continue searching for a path forward without injured starter Phil Jurkovec. Dennis Grosel started the game. Freshman Emmett Morehead made his collegiate debut on BC’s third series of the game. Morehead finished 6-of-15 passing with 87 yards while Grosel — who returned in the fourth quarter — was 9-of-17 for 93 yards. Both Grosel and Morehead are pro-style quarterbacks with limited mobility, making Hafley’s choice more difficult.

• Virginia Tech leads the all-time series 19-10 and beat BC handily in a 40-14 result last season in Blacksburg, Va.
