• After earning five of a possible six points on their road trip, the Vancouver Canucks attempt to extend their point streak to five contests when they begin a five-game homestand Saturday against the Philadelphia Flyers. Vancouver concluded its three-game trek Thursday as it staged a third-period comeback before dropping a 4-3 overtime decision in Nashville. Brock Boeser scored his fourth goal in three contests with 4:05 left in the final session and Bo Horvat tallied for the third time in four games with 44 seconds remaining for the Canucks, who recorded all of their goals on special teams.
• Philadelphia is wrapping up a five-game road trip during which it has posted a 1-2-1 record after suffering a 4-1 loss in Edmonton on Friday. Jakub Voracek scored the lone goal for the Flyers, putting him two points away from 600 for his career. The 29-year-old Czech is riding a seven-game point streak during which he has collected four tallies and as many assists.
• Claude Giroux has been on fire of late, recording four goals and 13 assists over his last 11 contests. The 30-year-old captain has registered five multi-point performances in that span and 13 overall this season. Sean Couturier also has been an offensive force as he has collected eight goals and 10 assists over his last 14 games.
• Boeser’s goal against the Predators came on the power play while Horvat and Jay Beagle netted short-handed tallies, increasing Vancouver’s total to six this season. Elias Pettersson helped set up Boeser’s score, giving him three goals and eight assists during his five-game point streak. The 20-year-old Swedish rookie tops the team in tallies (16), assists (17), points and game-winning goals (four) while owning a share of the lead with four power-play scores.
• Boeser became the fourth Canuck to reach double digits in goals, joining Pettersson, Horvat (15) and Jake Virtanen (10).
• Philadelphia LW James van Riemsdyk, who notched his 400th career point in Calgary on Wednesday, needs four assists to reach 200 for his career.
• Vancouver signed 20-year-old D Mitch Eliot to a three-year, entry-level contract.
