• Newcastle have kept two clean sheets this season, with their visitors Manchester City the only other side in the division to do so in their opening two games. Nick Pope was in inspired form against Brighton last week and will be looking for more of the same against Pep Guardiola’s side.

• City go into to this game top of the league on six points, level with Arsenal. They were comfortable 4-0 winners in this fixture last season, as well as beating them 5-0 at the Etihad, but Newcastle’s team has improved since those fixtures, following a full pre-season with Eddie Howe.

• It could be a much closer encounter this time around, and both teams will be keen to extend their unbeaten runs, but City could edge it through their quality.
