• Back-to-back defeats, admittedly at the hands of Manchester City and Liverpool, has seen Sheffield United drop to eighth in the Premier League. A run of just one defeat in their last seven on home turf means Chris Wilder will be confident of overseeing a return to winning ways in the league here.

• West Ham responded brilliantly to the appointment of David Moyes with a thumping 4-0 home win over relegation rivals Bournemouth. Still just two points above the relegation zone, however, the Hammers need to build on that victory, and their progression in the FA Cup, if they are to pull further from danger.

• Two wins from their last four away league matches should boost morale for West Ham, but Sheffield United have home advantage too fall back on and land a narrow win on Friday night.
