• Chelsea elected to relieve Frank Lampard of his duties after a run of just one win in five saw the Blues drop down to ninth. A 3-1 FA Cup win over Luton wasn’t enough to save Lampard from the sack.

• So too does Nuno Espirito Santo, who has overseen a six-game winless run in the Premier League, which leaves Wolves down in 14th, 11 points off the European spots. Wolves have picked up just one point from their last four away league outings and have lost six of their last seven trips to Stamford Bridge.

• Both sides are in dire need of three points, but Chelsea, given their home dominance over Wolves and quality in depth, should be able to eke out all three points on Wednesday.
