• Girona picked up their first win of the season after a convincing 3-1 victory over Getafe. Goals from forwards Christhian Stuani and Valentin Castellanos along with an own goal were enough to secure all three points.

• Celta Vigo suffered a heavy defeat in their last game against Real Madrid. Despite a second league goal in as many games for Iago Aspas, they could not stop the attacking quality of Los Blancos and lost 4-1.

• The two sides last met in 2019 when Aspas helped Celta Vigo to a 2-1 win at home late in the season. Girona were relegated at the end of that campaign at the expense of Celta Vigo.
