• Both Valencia and Getafe will be desperate for the fresh start the new season brings having both struggled last term, finishing five points apart in 13th and 15th, respectively.

• This one is actually being dubbed the (Pepe) ‘Bordalás derby’ after Bordalás left Getafe at the end of last season, going on to join Valencia, replacing Javi Gracia, who did not see eye-to-eye with the board.

• Michel returned to Getafe for a second spell, and there is plenty of excitement about his return, particularly with Marc Cucurella remaining at the club, for now at least, amid transfer links with the Premier League, and indeed the signing of Vitolo from Atletico Madrid.

• It’s a tough one to call given how close these teams actually finished in the La Liga table last season, but Valencia will have fans back in Mestalla, and despite looking shaky in pre-season, they do have the stronger of the two squads.
