• Top seed Daniil Medvedev began his ATP Mallorca campaign with a routine straight-set win over Corentin Moutet in the second round (R1 bye) on Tuesday. The Russian made a slow start to the match and found himself trailing 1-4 in the early stages of the first set, but he soon found his range and went onto win 11 of his following 13 games to seal a comfortable win, 6-4 6-2.

• Casper Ruud had never won a match on grass in his career before this week, but he is through to the quarterfinal in Mallorca without dropping a set after bagging straightforward wins over Gilles Simon and Tennys Sandgren, 6-4 7-6 and 6-3 6-4, respectively.
