• Barbora Krejcikova was already on her best singles roll at the tournament when she defeated Victoria Azarenka, 6-2, 6-2, in the fourth round. She was aided by her opponent’s neck injury while winning 87% on her first serves and committing just 12 unforced errors to the former champ’s 28.

• Madison Keys has returned to a Grand Slam quarterfinal for the first time since 2019 and her first in Melbourne in four years. She took on world no. 6 Paula Badosa in what was supposed to be her toughest match of the fortnight and instead scored her easiest victory, 6-3, 6-1, in 69 minutes.
