Washington State, off to a 3-0 start in conference play for the first time since 2003, will try for its fifth straight win on Saturday night at Arizona State. It’s a key game for both teams in their quests to win division titles and advance to the Pac-12’s title game on Dec. 2 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

Leach’s “Air Raid” offense is once again in the capable hands of junior quarterback Luke Falk who ranks fifth in the FBS in passing (352.2 yards per game) and has thrown 16 touchdown passes. Senior Gabe Marks leads a veteran receiving corps with 40 receptions and six touchdown catches and ranks second all-time in Pac-12 history with 267 career receptions while junior Gerard Wicks leads an improved run game with seven TDs. The defense, which ranks No. 1 in the Pac-12 in run defense allowing just 104.5 yards per game, is led by sophomore end Hercules Mata’afa, who leads the conference with 9.5 tackles for loss to go along with three sacks, and senior strong safety Shalom Luani, who is tied for the conference lead with three interceptions.

The Sun Devils got sophomore starting quarterback Manny Wilkins, who has passed for 1,382 yards and six touchdowns and rushed for another 223 yards and four TDs, back from a foot injury at Colorado last week but he still didn’t appear to be 100 percent. He can lean on one of the top running back tandems in the conference in Demario Richard (122 carries, 495 yards, 2 TDs) and Kalen Ballage (68 carries, 324 yards, 9 TDs) and has one of the Pac-12’s top targets to throw to in speedy senior Tim White (44 catches). The defense, which yielded 315 rushing yards in the loss at Colorado, is led by linebackers Salamo Fiso (31 tackles) and Laiu Moeakiola (33 tackles).

Arizona State PK Zane Gonzalez has made 19 of 20 field goal attempts, with six makes from 50-plus yards, including a school-record 59-yarder that is also the longest in the nation this season, and has 40 touchbacks on 52 kickoffs.

Washington State is second in the Pac-12 with 15 forced turnovers which is also tied for ninth in the nation.

Falk is the FBS active leader in passing yards per game (355.8).
