• Tate was, and is, an exceptional wrestler. Her hands will not dazzle you, though you would be hard-pressed to find many top-shelf strikers at 135 pounds. But we also can’t overlook the improvements made in her stand up, which helped bring power to the end of her punches instead of the beginning.

• What Raquel Pennington can bring to cage that Tate has not already seen — and vanquished — remains to be seen. The combatant you saw on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) is the same one who will enter the cage on Saturday night, which is telling, from a predictions standpoint.

• We saw in her previous three victories that Pennington is not to be overlooked. This sport, unlike most others, can allow its athletes to get pretty close to the top on grit and mental fortitude. You don’t always have to be better than your opponent if you can outwork, outlast, or outsmart them. Unfortunately for Pennington, Tate has made her career following that same strategy and does it better than anyone in the division.
