Any Other Result

The line for this game is Iowa State by 13.5 points.

No. 22 Iowa State, coming off a spectacular offensive performance, will take on an Indiana State team that prides itself on defense on Thanksgiving in the opening round of the AdvoCare Invitational in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The Sycamores’ first three foes managed to hit only 38.6 percent of their shots, but the Cyclones are on another level and just scored a school-record 130 points to demolish The Citadel by 67 points on Sunday.

Morris, who leads the Cyclones in scoring (18.7 points) and assists (8.0), is coming off a triple-double (17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists) that was achieved in only a little more than 22 minutes of playing time. Mitrou-Long (17.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists) tied his career high with 26 points against The Citadel while Thomas (15.0 points, 5.3 rebounds) is coming off a 18-point performance and found his 3-point form, hitting 5-of-6 from long distance. Northern Illinois transfer Darrell Bowie (9.7 points, 8.7 rebounds), a 6-foot-8 forward, has given coach Steve Prohm a needed post presence and produced his first double-double (13 points and 10 rebounds) against The Citadel.

Junior guard Brenton Scott, a second-team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection last season when he averaged 14.9 points, is off to a strong start for the Sycamores, averaging 22.3 points on 46.3 percent shooting. Senior forward Matt Van Scyoc is Indiana State’s second offensive option and he has been efficient thus far, averaging 14.0 points on 59.1 percent shooting, including going 6-of-11 from beyond the arc. Remarkably, 6-foot-1 senior guard Everett Clemons (6.3 points) leads the team in both assists (6.3) and rebounds (8.3) while coach Greg Lansing has been getting help off the bench from freshman guard Jordan Barnes, who is averaging 9.7 points and his hit 5-of-12 shots from beyond the arc.

While the focus has been on the offense, the Cyclones have held their foes to 29 percent shooting from the field.

Morris has 24 assists with only two turnovers through three games.

The Sycamores have been outrebounded thus far (41.3-39.0), not a good sign considering Iowa State’s domination on the glass thus far.
