Bruno Peres has added to Roma’s injury problems after he was forced off in the last match with an ankle problem. Since Mario Rui is not yet at full fitness, Luciano Spalletti will have limited options to cover for Peres’ absence, which means Antonio Rudiger will have to deputise at right-back once again. Mohamed Salah was initially ruled out of action for Roma until after the AFCON but is remarkably now looking to return to action this month.

Massimiliano Allegri is working on a 4-man defence in order to give more freedom to Miralem Pjanic between midfield and attack. Almost the full squad is available for Allegri and he will have to make some tough choices, particularly in attack now Paulo Dybala is back. Mario Mandzukic has shown great form in recent games but Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain are first choice going forward.

Juventus beat an in-form Atalanta and triumphed in the Turin derby against Torino to send a strong message back to their critics.

Roma come into this game off the back of three straight wins, most notably beating Milan last time out. They need to win here to have a realistic chance of catching Juventus in the title race.

Juventus would be happy with a draw to maintain their four-point lead at the top of Serie A, but Massimiliano Allegri will still want to win here to put further daylight between their rivals.
