Emre Can has missed Liverpool’s last two matches with a knee injury and his absence may be prolonged in Monday’s Merseyside derby. Divock Origi was forced off in the dying embers of Wednesday’s win with a minor knock but he should be okay by Monday. Philippe Coutinho isn’t expected back until the end of the month, while Danny Ings is out for the season. Daniel Sturridge remains a doubt here.

Phil Jagielka is suspended for the Merseyside derby on Monday after being sent off in the dying embers of Everton’s 2-1 win over Arsenal on Tuesday night. Gareth Barry missed the midweek win but should return to the team on Monday if he is fit enough. This leaves Ronald Koeman with a potential headache, as Ross Barkley turned in his best performance of the season in midweek but hasn’t always been trusted in big games by the Everton manager. James McCarthy, who has only recently returned from ongoing hamstring problems, may be the one to miss out here.

Everton turned in a spirited performance to come from behind and beat Arsenal 2-1 on Tuesday. They are one of just three remaining Premier League sides unbeaten at home this season and Ronald Koeman will be hoping his side have returned to form at just the right time.

Liverpool managed an impressive 3-0 win over Middlesbrough on Wednesday and should be full of confidence ahead of the first Merseyside Derby of the season. Jurgen Klopp’s side have drawn each of their last four matches at Goodison Park and a repeat result may be on the cards here.
