Western Michigan looks to avoid a letdown and move within one victory of a perfect regular season when it hosts struggling Buffalo on Saturday in a Mid-American Conference matchup. The Broncos, ranked 21st in both the College Football Playoff rankings and the coaches’ poll, extended their winning streak to 12 by rallying from 14 points down to win 37-21 in the rain at Kent State on Nov. 8.

Buffalo has dropped six of its last seven games, including a 35-24 setback against Miami (Ohio) last Saturday.

The Bulls have given up at least 31 points in seven of 10 games and the 24 points they produced last week was second-most behind the 41-20 victory over Akron on Oct. 27. Freshman quarterback Tyree Jackson has thrown for 1,772 yards with nine touchdown strikes and nine interceptions while rushing for 399 – second only to senior running back Jordan Johnson (884 yards, five TDs).

Junior Jarvion Franklin leads the way with 1,152 yards rushing – 134 last week – and senior Fabian Johnson stepped up with a season-high 125 last week.

Western Michigan’s junior LB Robert Spillane leads the team with 85 tackles and forced a safety against Kent State last week.
