[9:05 PM] Clemson @ #22 South Carolina

Who will WIN this matchup?

Clemson Tigers (8-2)

@ #22 South Carolina Gamecocks (9-1)

The line for this game is South Carolina by 1 point.

No. 20 South Carolina has powered through the first 10 games of its schedule based on one of the nation’s strongest defenses, but will face a solid defensive unit in its own right when it hosts Clemson on Wednesday. The Gamecocks rank fourth in the country in opponent scoring at 57.7 points per game, but the Tigers come to town allowing just 63.6 points per contest and riding a six-game winning streak.

The Tigers have been outstanding on defense during their winning streak, surrendering just 56.8 points per game and more than 65 points only once. Senior forward Jaron Blossomgame leads the Tigers in scoring at 17.6 points per game and needs 17 points to pass former NBA star Larry Nance for 17th place on the school’s all-time scoring list. Sophomore guard Shelton Mitchell scored a career-best 18 points against the Crimson Tide, while Clemson held Alabama to 32 percent shooting from the field and forced 16 turnovers.

The Gamecocks have not surrendered more than 70 points since a season-opening victory over Louisiana Tech, limiting five opponents to 50 points or fewer. Dozier has emerged as a solid scoring threat, scoring 20 or more points in four consecutive games to raise his scoring average to 14.5. South Carolina continues to play without senior guard and leading scorer Sindarius Thornwell (18.7 points per game), who is suspended indefinitely due to an undisclosed violation of athletic department policy.

Clemson is 2-0 against SEC competition this season, beating Georgia and Alabama.

Dozier is shooting 8-of-18 from 3-point range in his past four games and is hitting 52.3 percent of his field-goal attempts during that span.

The Gamecocks lead the all-time series 90-76 and have won the past two meetings, including a 65-59 triumph last season.
