• Price contributed to a rough first week of the season for the team’s starting pitchers by permitting four runs on five hits – three homers – over six innings in a 7-0 loss at Oakland. The 33-year-old Vanderbilt product, who won 16 games during the regular season and three in the playoffs last year, struck out nine in his 300th major league contest Monday. Jones has six doubles while batting just .227 in 75 at-bats against Price, who is 2-0 with a 2.81 ERA versus the Diamondbacks.

• Weaver did not last through five innings in his first game with Arizona on Sunday, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits along with two walks across 4 1/3 frames and 97 pitches. The 25-year-old Florida State product, who came over in the Paul Goldschmidt deal during the offseason, was 7-2 in 2017 but dropped to 7-11 with the Cardinals last year. Martinez is 1-for-2 with a grand slam versus Weaver, who faces the Red Sox for the first time.
